Photographing The Breadfruit

Spotted him in Goa's Anujuna Beach, photographing a floating breadfruit. Could not resist clicking it.

Mom

I never get good photographs of my mom, when she is aware that she is being photographed. But this time the moment was right; setting sun created warm tones, the colour of her saree and the ambiance was just right. I stood at a distance, extended the zoom and clicked it.

I noticed him standing and watching at the sunset, It just occurred to me, if I could click both the sunset and a portrait. Changed the aperture to f/8 the smallest possible on my camera and clicked this graceful face

The Triumvirate

This effect was achieved by using a delayed flash option in the camera. Generally called the slow sync flash. Well the camera shutter opens with a flash and subjects within the flash range are illuminated(In this case the boys). Once the flash is gone, the shutter stays open for some more time, to record the images out of flash range, generally the background. The time I took this photograph was the start of nautical twilight, with just enough light to create a dim image of the jumping boys,even after the flash had done its job(The ghosting of the subject occured because of this). Using the Slow sync flash option, at twilight with moving subjects can create pretty dramatic images.Photograph details:Aperture:F/2.7 , Shutter :1/4 sec, ISO 80 , Flash mode: Slow Sync. Human Pyramids

A riot of colours, in the Sea of humanity
A human Pyramid just about to collapse. The water spray from either side severely distracts one of the participant, just enough to trigger a collapse.

Water being thrown, in a attempt to bring down the pyramid. Its was a very difficult situation as a Photographer. It was raining heavily and water was being splashed all around, and I was concerned about the camera. There was a bright light bang opposite to the subject as is evident in the photograph, I tried to shield it by trying to place the subject in between the camera and the light source. Since it was night, I had to use a longer shutter time, and standing steady or using a tripod was out of question, because of the rush of people around.

Its was festive season in India on 4th September and breaking pots hung high up, by making human pyramids, was the event of the day. These Photographs were taken in Mangalore where these human pyramids broke Hundreds of pots filled with flour, coloured water, milk and goodies. The human pyramid slowly moves across braking up to 30 pots in one go. Water is used to distract the youth make the pyramid building difficult.

Calm Before the Storm

Photographed this during a fishing trip with my friends. As the sky turned threatening, we abandoned out fishing gear and tried to sink in some floating light bulbs with stones. Seconds after this picture was taken it poured.

Pressure Bath

This was a little tricky Picture, because I could stand on only one spot and the sun was bang opposite to me. I went low down and just about hid the sun from the frame and using a lense hood helped in cutting down the flare.The Blue sky with blue sea gives the Picture a calm blue backdrop.

Big Cheese

I always find photographing people without their knowledge bring the best in a Photograph, The picture was taken using Potrait Mode of Sony DSc H7, the feature Single outs the face and brings out good skin tones. Also because it uses a Larger apertute the background is kept out of focus and the face Sharp.

Look Out

Photographed without the subjects knowledge and was shot using the Potrait mode in Sony H7, I find this feature very useful when Photographing Potraits as it brings out the skin tone very well.
